Spelling Bee

In the movie Akeelah and the Bee, the main character is inspired by a quote from Marianne Williamson:

"...We are all meant to shine, as children do.  We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us...And as we let our own lights shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.  As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others."

Our students, like Akeelah, participate in Scripps National Spelling Bee.  They do let their lights shine, consistently earning spots in the North Idaho Regional Bee, and on to the Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington D.C.  When students are liberated from the fear of being a "smart kid", they can accomplish amazing things.
